Monday News

This morning I had to wake up early to move my car into free parking, and so here I am, having caught up on the news and my inbox for the day.  One of the most disheartening stories of the day is here: this man (mug shot featured right) has been sentenced to 50 years for engaging in child pornography and then enlisting his daughter to pose for him explicitly between the ages of 9 and 15.  I can only imagine that the Multnomah County judicial system is relieved to have Terance Carpenter behind bars, but absolutely exhausted after dealing with such a heavy case.
I believe that in order to actually solve the issue, and prevent more like it, lies much deeper than simply locking up each case, but dealing with our culture that leads people there.  Would this happen without the internet?  I suppose evil has been around since the beginning of this world's clock, but there has to be some solution that we can bring about before Jesus shows up to end it himself!

In lighter news, this weekend I was home briefly to cook with my mother, and we made some delicious food I found off of tastespotting.com (my newest favorite site that has made me obsessed with cooking!).  We made Creamy Smoked Salmon and Pea Spagetti and Honey and Ginger Lace Cookies.  Both dishes were beautiful and tasted even better, and didn't take much time at all. Check out these pictures from the source websites, and if you click on them you can get the recipes for yourself!

Now I just need to have my camera around so I can share my own pictures next time!

Good morning and good day to all!

Welcome!

Welcome to my humble blog.  Here I'll be posting my thoughts and to debrief, you can expect to hear about spirituality, human trafficking, the Pacific Northwest, Sudan, India, cooking experiments, the grand ol' outdoors, and my boyfriend, AJ.  I hope you enjoy it, and if you feel inspired, comment!
